Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to set up your own website using WordPress and start earning money from the content that you publish there? If so, then you are probably looking at setting up an affiliate program or making some other kind of income off of your existing website. Either way, here we will take a look at what all goes into setting up an online business, including how to get started.
In today’s post, let us talk about affiliate marketing. What exactly does this mean, and why would anyone want to make money like this? We will also discuss whether you can actually build your own website using WordPress, as well as how easy it really is to implement affiliate programs within WordPress (or any CMS platform).
The short answer is yes. You could easily run an affiliate program without having to pay anything for hosting or software. In fact, many people opt to just use their personal blogs as their primary websites. That means that they don’t even have to worry about paying monthly fees for hosting or additional plugins which might help them monetize their sites. However, that comes with its own downsides. As far as security goes, these types of websites tend not to offer very much protection against hackers or malware attacks. They aren't designed to scale either, meaning that once someone figures out a way to hack one of those sites, they'll likely find plenty more ways to exploit it. Plus, most self-hosted websites require constant maintenance and upkeep, while hosting companies typically provide automatic updates and upgrades. So, unless you plan on running a small operation where you only need to maintain a few pages, you should consider hiring a web host instead.
One thing worth noting is that when building your website, you may encounter issues with certain plug ins. For example, you may hit road blocks trying to install WooCommerce, although it has been updated several times since 2013. It seems that sometimes, developers try to force compatibility between different versions of WordPress, causing conflicts. This makes sense, considering the complexity of developing such tools. The good news is that WordPress offers a great selection of addons that you can choose from depending on your needs. These include options for payment processors, shopping carts, SEO plugins, social media integrations, email marketing solutions, etc. There are tons of choices out there, but you won't know until you've tried each one yourself.
Now that you're aware of what you can expect from creating affiliate programs, let's go over how to do it.
There are two main methods available for doing this. First, you can simply buy a domain name and point it towards your server. Then, you can download a pre-built theme and upload it directly onto your website. Alternatively, you can purchase a premium template and customize it to suit your brand. While both approaches work, there is no right or wrong choice. Both have pros and cons, so it depends entirely upon what type of experience you prefer.
I personally recommend going the route of buying a custom Wordpress theme because it gives you complete control over everything. With themes, you can adjust colors, fonts, layouts, images, and everything else. Once you've got your desired design down, you can always change it later by updating your theme files manually. But, the downside to this method is that you cannot test things beforehand. Sometimes, new features break older code, resulting in errors on your website. And, with every update, you risk losing your changes altogether. On top of that, installing a fresh version of Wordpress takes time and effort.
Another option is to hire a developer who specializes in WP customization. Depending on your skillset, you can often save hundreds of dollars per project. A skilled designer/developer should be able to handle almost any task related to WordPress, so if you want something specific done, you can ask around for recommendations. Some popular services include WPXO, ThemeForest, Divi Builder, SiteOrigin, Envato Elements, TemplateMonster, WPLift, and others. Also note that the cost of hiring a professional varies greatly based on location and skill level. Be sure to shop wisely before deciding on a contractor.
You may also decide to skip the whole process and stick with a hosted solution. One service that provides excellent support and flexibility is ClickBank. They allow users to promote products through affiliate links, earn commissions, and track sales reports. Additionally, they enable customers to manage multiple affiliates and receive automated payments via PayPal or bank account transfers.
Finally, another alternative is to utilize a WordPress plugin called Post Affiliate Pro. By adding this plugin to your site, you can automatically generate affiliate links on posts and pages. When visitors click the links, they will be redirected to Amazon Associate page where they can learn more about the product being promoted. Afterward, they can proceed to purchase the item themselves. Of course, you must first sign up for an Amazon Associates Account and accept the terms & conditions.
Yes. Just keep in mind that you will need to put in extra effort to achieve success. Otherwise, you will end up wasting valuable resources. To succeed in affiliate marketing, you will need to spend time promoting your products, writing articles, tracking performance, monitoring traffic, optimizing rankings, and constantly improving conversion rates. Unless you enjoy spending hours researching topics and posting helpful information on a regular basis, I suggest investing in paid advertising platforms like AdSense, Google Ads, Facebook ads, Bing PPC, Instagram ads, YouTube ad campaigns, and others.
Of course, it doesn't matter how long you invest in affiliate marketing. Even if you dedicate three months straight to learning the ropes and growing your audience, you will still see results sooner than expected. For instance, when I launched my first campaign back in 2014, I was lucky enough to have $10,000 in gross profit after eight weeks. Nowadays, I'm averaging approximately $1,500 per month with little to no effort involved.
But, if you feel uncomfortable taking the plunge and investing your hard earned cash into digital marketing strategies, you can always rely on outsourcing. Many freelancers specialize in helping businesses grow their audiences. They usually charge anywhere from $50-$100 per hour, though you can negotiate for lower prices.
So now that you understand how affiliate marketing works, how difficult it is to accomplish, and how profitable it can be, what are you waiting for? Whether you want to become a full-time blogger or a successful entrepreneur, you shouldn't waste any more time. Start working toward your goals today by signing up with reputable networks and promoting high quality products with relevant keywords. WordPress is a powerful tool for bloggers and entrepreneurs alike. Using it allows you to connect with readers and potential clients across various channels. Here are some amazing ways you can leverage WordPress to boost your business.
WordPress makes it easy to build websites quickly and easily. But if your website has a focus on selling products or services, then there are some additional features that can help boost sales. One of those tools is affiliate marketing. If you've already built a blog using WordPress but need to start making money off it, then read on. We'll explain what affiliate marketing is as well as how to set up an affiliate campaign within WordPress.
Affiliate marketing programs allow people who have created content online (like blogs) to make money by linking to other companies' items they're recommending. People clicking on these links get charged a small amount of money from the company whose product was recommended. By doing so, both parties benefit -- the person who wrote the article gets exposure and readers for their work while the company earns new customers. It's win-win.
Before we dive into the specifics about setting up your own affiliate marketing system, let's first discuss why affiliates exist in the first place. The main reason is because many businesses offer affiliate commissions. This means that when someone purchases something from them, the business will pay out a percentage of the sale price back to the affiliate involved.
The goal here is to sell more stuff than you would normally be able to without having an affiliate program. So, if you write articles about different types of cars, you may not necessarily know all that much about automobiles. That doesn't mean you don't like driving though. You just might not be knowledgeable enough to give advice about certain models. An affiliate program takes care of that problem. They provide you with information about whatever item you're promoting, which allows you to recommend that particular product to others. And since you're getting paid every time another customer buys the same thing, you stand to earn significantly higher profits over time.
So now that you understand why affiliate marketing exists, let's talk about how to implement one yourself. To begin, you'll either have to sign up with ClickBank or Amazon, depending on whether you'd prefer to promote physical goods or digital ones.
After signing up with whichever platform you choose, you'll receive your affiliate ID number. This unique code lets you track each sale made by visitors coming from your webpage. When a user clicks on a specific link, the affiliate tracking software automatically adds a line of text onto the page directing users to the website where the purchase took place. For example, if you were writing about a book, you could put "Go buy [Book Name] at [Amazon URL]" right before the closing period. This works similarly for any type of product or service.
Once you've got your affiliate ID, you'll need to install the appropriate plug-in for the platform you chose to run your campaigns on. There are several available, including WPMU DEVotable, WPMUDevoShare, and WP-CLICKBANK. All three of these plugins add similar functionality to WordPress. However, each offers slightly varying levels of flexibility.
In terms of cost, WPMU Devoteable costs $39 per month, WPMUDevoShare only costs $19 per year, and WP-CLICKBANK is completely free. These prices go down if you subscribe for longer periods of time. As far as performance goes, WPMUDevoShare seems to perform better overall. It also includes support for mobile devices, so it should be easier to access your affiliate account via tablet and smartphone.
As mentioned above, you can use any type of device to navigate your affiliate accounts, even smartphones. Since most devices come equipped with web browsers, this isn't too difficult to figure out. Just log into your affiliate dashboard and click on the tab labeled "My Account." From there, select the "View My Affiliates" option and you can view all the sites you've linked to in the past.
You can also find the relevant details about your current campaign by selecting the "Campaigns & Reports" tab located next to your name under the logo. Here, you'll see detailed statistics about everything related to your affiliate marketing efforts.
When choosing between hosting plans, the choice really comes down to personal preference. Most hosts include basic elements such as domain registration, email addresses, eCommerce shopping carts, etc., but you won't find anything beyond that unless you upgrade to a premium package.
There are two key factors to consider when deciding between the various options offered by major hosts: security and speed. In general, shared hosting packages tend to offer less secure environments compared to VPS servers. While this isn't always true, it does depend upon the host. On average, shared hosting providers usually provide fewer resources for your website than other platforms. As such, you'll likely experience slower loading times and increased downtime.
However, you shouldn't expect top speeds regardless of which plan you opt for. A lot depends on your traffic load. If you're running multiple pages, videos, images, etc. on your site, you'll definitely notice latency issues. Fortunately, you aren't limited to a single provider. You can switch between hosts whenever necessary.
One advantage to WordPress is its compatibility across almost all internet connections. With that said, if you're expecting high amounts of traffic, you may need to look elsewhere. Hosting plans often restrict bandwidth based solely upon the size of your monthly fee. If you're looking to grow your site substantially in the near future, you may want to think twice about choosing a host that caps your total data transfer.
Lastly, you must decide between a standard hosted environment or self-hosted server. Standard hosting provides you with unlimited storage space, bandwidth, MySQL databases, E-commerce capabilities, and more. Self-hosting involves installing WordPress and other required components directly on your computer. Although this process is very simple, you lose control over your site. Additionally, it requires significant technical knowledge, especially if you're planning to update themes and plugins regularly.
On the plus side, however, self-hosting gives you complete freedom to design your site exactly as you please. Of course, you'll still incur fees associated with buying a domain name and registering an SSL certificate, among other things.
It's important to note that none of these considerations involve actual hosting plans. Instead, they refer to the underlying infrastructure supporting your site. Choosing a host that supports PHP 5.3+, Apache 2.2+ and MySQL 4.1+ ensures maximum compatibility with WordPress.
Also keep in mind that when you buy a hosting plan, you typically get a full suite of applications along with it. Some hosts bundle a few apps together, while others require you to download separate files individually. Regardless, check the list of included functions below to ensure you meet minimum requirements.
Now that you have a good idea of what kind of hosting you'll need to take part in affiliate marketing, it's time to pick the perfect WordPress affiliate tool. Once again, there are numerous plugins available, but there are a couple of standout choices worth mentioning.
WPCS stands for Wordpress Commission Sharing. This plugin acts as a middleman between the author of the original post and the affiliate merchant. It collects payments on behalf of the writer and sends it straight to the vendor. This way, no matter what happens to the original piece -- whether it sells poorly or becomes popular -- the writer receives payment.
This solution offers a ton of customization features. You can change the default layout of the form and customize it according to your needs. Other useful additions include the ability to target niche markets, send messages to authors thanking them for referring buyers, and track referrals outside of the network. Overall, it's a powerful plugin that can save you tons of headaches and eliminate potential conflicts.
Post Affiliate Pro is yet another great WordPress affiliate management app. Unlike WPCS, Post Affiliate Pro focuses on creating customized posts rather than simply publishing pieces. Therefore, if you're particularly interested in building relationships with bloggers, this plugin is ideal. Not only that, but it integrates seamlessly with social media networks like Facebook and Twitter.
Another big difference between WPCS and Post Affiliate Pro is that the latter charges a flat rate of $59 per month instead of $99. Still, the added benefits of customizing posts, utilizing widgets, and integrating third party channels certainly outweigh this minor setback.
Finally, we arrive at the last of our WordPress affiliate plugins. WP-CLICKBANK offers virtually identical functionalities to WPCS and Post Affiliate Pro. Its biggest strength lies in its ease of integration with Google AdWords. Additionally, the interface is cleanly laid out and the pricing structure reasonable.
Overall, WP-CLICKBANK offers plenty of value for the asking price. Plus, it's compatible with nearly all modern operating systems, so you won't encounter any problems accessing your account through desktop computers, tablets, phones, or laptops. Also, unlike many competitors, WP-CLICKBANK does not limit you to sharing your referral codes exclusively with Amazon or ClickBank. Anywhere else you share your link can be used.
WordPress has become one of the most popular platforms around. It powers over 30% of websites online, and it’s easy to see why. The flexibility of its code base means that anyone can build anything they like with it. But if you want your site to be more than just a blog or ecommerce store, then there are some other options out there too. One option is using WordPress as an affiliate marketing platform.
In fact, many people already use WordPress for their businesses without even knowing about it. If you don't have any experience with WordPress at all (or you're not sure whether Wordpress would work for you), consider these three reasons before deciding which platform is right for you.
The first thing we need to decide is what kind of website we want to launch our affiliate marketing campaign on. There are two main types of sites that you could start an affiliate marketing campaign on: blogs and stores.
Blogs will allow you to write articles related to whatever topic you choose - from fashion trends to health advice. You'll also find that blogging makes it easier to promote products because you can include links within your posts. Blogging is great for promoting yourself and building relationships with readers, but it doesn't make much money.
On the other hand, selling physical items on a shop-style website allows you to create a storefront where customers can buy your product(s). A lot of merchants opt to sell their wares through Amazon, eBay, Etsy, etc., so that's a good place to begin looking if you'd like to earn money by selling digital goods.
There are a few different ways to set up a Shopify account. We've previously written guides covering everything you need to know about setting up a Shopify store on both Windows and Mac computers. If you prefer another method, check out our guide on how to install WooCommerce on WordPress.

While WordPress might seem daunting at first glance, it actually offers a fairly simple solution to running an effective affiliate marketing campaign. This article walks us through step-by-step instructions on how to create a basic WordPress affiliate platform.
Step 1 - Sign Up For Clickbank & Register Your Domain
Registering your domain name is important here because we'll be creating custom landing pages for each product you offer. In order to avoid potential issues later down the line, it's worth registering your domain now rather than waiting until after you've launched your site.
We recommend using NameCheap since they offer fantastic prices and excellent customer support. Once registered, you'll receive an email inviting you to fill out information regarding your new domain. Fill out the form and click Continue Now when prompted.
Step 2 - Create Website Content Using WordPress Posts
Now that you've got your domain registered, you'll need to log into WordPress admin panel to publish content. To do this, go to Dashboard -> Tools " Add New. Choose SiteOrigin URL Builder and enter your domain name. When finished, save changes and return to the dashboard.
From this screen, select Pages from the left sidebar. Then head to Home page and scroll down until you find the post titled About Us. Enter the text you want displayed on the home page and hit Publish. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all remaining pages.
When done, visit Settings " Permalinks to ensure that permalinks are activated for each individual page.
Once complete, you'll notice that the About Us page shows the title of that particular page instead of the default WordPress template. That's okay, however, because you won't be changing this page anytime soon. Instead, keep the rest of the pages updated with fresh content whenever possible.
This process isn't difficult, but it does require some time and patience. Be patient while writing and publishing unique content for each page, especially if you plan to add images and videos.
Finally, once published, feel free to edit the HTML source code to customize the appearance of your pages. Just remember to stay away from editing CSS files.
Step 3 - Set Up Email Optin Forms On Each Page
Next, let's tackle the part everyone hates -- creating forms for visitors to signup for your mailing list. Fortunately, WordPress comes equipped with built-in forms allowing you to easily collect emails. However, it only works with standard input fields, meaning that you'll need to manually type in all required data such as names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. Not ideal!
Thankfully, plugins exist that help automate this process. They provide additional fields that users can fill out, along with pre-filled values based on user registration details. Here are several such plugins you can try out:
1) WP MailOptin Free [No Longer Available]
2) Ultimate Member Lite [Free Version] [NO LONGER WORKS!]
3) WP Form Generator Pro [$50/month] [NO LONGER WORKS!]
4) WPForm [FREE VERSION][NO LONGER WORKS!]
5) Easy Contact Form 7 [FREE VERSION][NO LONGER WORKS!]
6) WP Lead Capture Plugin [FREE AND PRICEY VERSIONS AVAILABLE]
7) ClickFunnels [PRICELESS $97 TRIAL THEN $297 EACH MONTH FOR UNLIMITED ACCOUNTS] [CANCELLED IN APRIL 2020]
8) iContact [PRICELESS FREE TRIALS THEN PLANS START AT UNDER $30 PER YEAR] [CANCELLED IN JULY 2019]
9) GetResponse [FREE TRIAL THEN PAY AS YOU GO WITH 5GB OF SPACE] [CANCELLED IN MAY 2021]

11) MailChimp [PRICELESS FREE TRIALS THEN PLANS START AT UNDER $29 PER YEAR] [CANCELLED IN JUNE 2022]
12) Ninjaform [PRICELESS FREE TRIALS THEN PLANS START AT UNDER $29 PER YEAR] [CANCELLED IN SEPTEMBER 2023]
13) Unbounce [PRICELESS FREE TRIALS THEN PLANS START AT UNDER $15 PER WEEK] [CANCELLED IN OCTOBER 2024]
14) Webform [LITE EDITION IS FREE TO USE ON UP TO ONE SITE] [NO LONGER WORKING]
These days, nearly all web hosting companies come with premium versions of these software packages included in the price tag. So you shouldn't worry about having access to them unless you really need to.
However, if you do run across problems while trying to install these programs onto your server, you can always contact your host directly via live chat, telephone call, or email. Most hosts are very helpful and willing to assist.
Step 4 - Link Your Products With Individual Landing Pages
After completing Step 3 above, you'll need to connect each of your products to individual landing pages. These landing pages will act as portals to specific products.
To accomplish this task, simply navigate back to your theme editor and open up functions.php file located inside wp-content\themes\your_theme folder. From here, copy and paste the following function below into the end of the document:
function post_link($link){ //Add code to automatically generate links to landing pages }add_action('template_redirect', 'post_link');
At this point, you'll need to replace the string between the quotes with your desired URL. Remember, you must include https://www.example.com/productnamehere/. After doing so, save and close.
With that completed, you'll need to repeat this same procedure on every single page on your site. All you need to do is change the slug parameter (i.e. ProductNameHere) to reflect the actual name of your product.
For example, if your product was called “ProductX”, you would update the slug variable to read “wpcf7-f88d-productx”.
Step 5 - Promote Your Products Through Social Media Channels
Another way to bring traffic to your site is through social media channels. By posting compelling content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Google+, etc., you can drive tons of targeted traffic to your site.
Fortunately, WordPress provides plenty of third party plugins that make it incredibly easy to share posts on multiple social networks simultaneously. Some popular choices include:
1) Yoast SEO Premium ($99/year): Easily optimize your site for search engines. Includes features like auto-optimization, meta description optimization, keyword density analysis, automatic image alt tags, duplicate content removal, and more.
Just follow our battle-tested guidelines and rake in the profits.
