It's been said that if you want to learn something new, then it's better to start with an old subject and work your way up than to jump into something completely different from where you started. And so it goes in regards to affiliate marketing. It was born out of the online world but has evolved over time into one of its own sub-genres.
While many people jumped head first into this field without knowing anything about what they were getting themselves into (and even more have since regretted their decision), those who took the time to understand the basics before diving right in did much better than those who simply gave up without trying at all. This article aims to outline some of the basic things you need to know when studying affiliate marketing or starting off as an affiliate marketer yourself.
But before we get into that, let me take a moment to tell you why I think you should consider reading a few affiliate marketing books. There are several reasons to do so, which include learning how to write compelling content, understanding what makes good products tick, developing your skillset, and finding ways to make money while doing so. Let's look at these points further below.
This question is probably the easiest one to answer because the answer is pretty obvious: You just go back through the history of affiliate marketing. While people like Markup Academy (who put together great courses) and Clickbank (which offers a huge library of helpful resources) offer plenty of information, you'll find tons of other useful materials out there too. For example, Patrick Debois created his "Learn How To Make Money Online" course entirely using only articles he found on forums, websites and blogs related to affiliate marketing.

If you'd prefer to use audio recordings instead, here's another list of must-have audiobooks for anyone looking to improve their knowledge of affiliate marketing.
I'm not going to lie - no, there isn't actually a single comprehensive book dedicated solely to affiliate marketing. However, you don't necessarily have to buy one either - you could always try writing your own ebook! In fact, here are 11 tips to writing an eBook that will set you apart from everyone else.
As long as you have enough knowledge and experience in running successful campaigns, you shouldn't be afraid to publish them into eBooks. As far as resources go, though, I would highly recommend checking out The Ultimate Guide To Making Money Online by John Chow. Not only does he cover topics ranging from creating valuable content to making money online, but he also covers everything in between.
You might come across other books along the same lines that provide a lot of the same information contained within The Ultimate Guide To Making Money Online, but none of them contain quite the same depth. Plus, John Chow has a reputation for being a reliable guy who knows exactly what works and doesn't work when it comes to promoting digital products, so his advice carries a lot more weight.
Even if you decide to skip the written version, however, you still won't miss out on a thing. John Chow hosts a podcast called "The School of Internet Marketing," which features interviews with experts in various fields of interest including affiliate marketing. These interviews aren't meant to replace written material, but rather supplement it. What's nice about having access to this resource is that you can listen to it whenever you feel motivated, whether that means during your lunch break or after dinner.
CJ Affiliate and Pat Flynn are two popular names among affiliates. Both men wrote multiple bestselling books on the topic, and both are known for providing excellent support services to their customers. So if you've ever wanted to ask someone questions directly, then you may want to pick up either of their books.
John Chow's blog The Simple Dollar contains loads of posts on every aspect of earning income online. He frequently shares links to high quality informational pieces relating to various niches, and you never really know when he's planning to release an update to his ebook.
Another option worth mentioning is The Complete Idiot's Guide To Making Money With Amazon Kindle. Written by Scott Bessent, this guide provides clear explanations on how to sell physical goods via Amazon's marketplace platform.
In addition to teaching you how to earn money, the author also discusses how to promote products effectively and efficiently. A perfect combination for beginners, I believe.
Yes, absolutely. Even though you're not technically selling books per se, you are still helping authors make sales. All you're doing is introducing readers to products that they haven't heard about yet, thereby allowing them to become aware of them later on down the line.
Let's say you stumble upon a review of a particular product somewhere on the web. After reading it, you see that it looks interesting and gives your potential buyers a reason to purchase it. Now, you have two options regarding how you proceed. One option is to simply leave the review alone and hope that others discover it naturally on their own. Another option is to contact the author and request permission to add a link to their website in exchange for a small commission fee.
Personally speaking, I wouldn't advise contacting the author unless the item seems particularly unique. Most likely, you'll end up wasting the author's time and/or yours. Instead, focus on reaching out to bloggers who already share reviews of products similar to yours and see if they'd be willing to feature your link alongside theirs.
When you send them a message asking for permission, you'll want to stick to the following guidelines:
1. Be polite. Don't forget that they worked hard to produce these reviews, so treat them accordingly.
2. Explain briefly why you wish to place a link to their site in your review. Some writers may accept requests based purely on goodwill, whereas others may require additional compensation.
3. Offer a fair amount of value in return. Perhaps mention that you plan to give away five copies of the product for each person who clicks through your link. Or perhaps mention that you'll pay $100 for every 100 visitors who click through your link. Whatever method you choose, aim to make sure that whatever you promise to deliver will indeed happen.
4. Always attach proof of payment. Whether you paid the blogger directly or used PayPal, ensure that you document the transaction. When sending emails requesting permission, you can usually attach screenshots of receipts showing the funds transfer taking place. Alternatively, you can simply state that the payment was sent to Paypal account XXXXXXXX.
5. Avoid spamming. Bloggers often receive hundreds of messages begging them to allow certain companies to advertise on their sites. Many times, these messages come straight from email lists containing millions of addresses. Although it's understandable that you'd want to reach out to bloggers who regularly review products you distribute, avoid approaching them randomly. Instead, search for relevant keywords beforehand and target specific individuals whose interests match yours.
6. Follow up promptly. Once you've received confirmation that the blogger accepts your proposal, follow up quickly with updates. Send periodic reminders reminding them of upcoming deadlines, especially if you paid them upfront. Also, make sure to thank them profusely once everything is finalized. They deserve it.
7. Keep track of your efforts. Whenever possible, keep a record of the results generated by the campaign you ran. Write down all pertinent details pertaining to conversions, traffic statistics, etc. By documenting your progress, you'll gain insights into which strategies yielded positive returns and which ones didn't. From there, you'll be able to tweak things accordingly and continue improving your performance.
8. Never stop working. As mentioned earlier, running effective campaigns takes a considerable amount of effort and commitment. Therefore, you'll want to dedicate yourself fully to the process until you achieve success. Just remember to enjoy yourself along the way. Enjoyment is essential when building a business, otherwise you risk losing motivation altogether.
9. Create passive streams of revenue. Once your affiliate marketing program starts producing significant profits, you'll eventually run out of ideas on how to increase earnings. At this point, diversifying your portfolio becomes necessary. Ideally, you'll want to create multiple streams of income, which will prevent complete dependence on your primary source of revenue.
10. Continue honing your craft. No matter what industry you operate in, continuous improvement is crucial to staying competitive. Your ability to adapt to changes in technology, consumer preferences, and economic conditions depends largely on your level of expertise. Thus, it pays to invest in self-improvement projects whenever possible.
11. Network with fellow marketers. Building relationships with influencers in your niche helps tremendously. Besides offering invaluable assistance to your cause, they're also likely to endorse your brand and services freely.
Although affiliate marketing is certainly an exciting avenue to explore, it requires a tremendous amount of dedication and patience. Fortunately, if you commit yourself fully to the process, you'll soon realize that becoming an expert in this field is extremely rewarding.
Since its inception, affiliate marketing has been one of the most popular online income streams, especially when there's plenty of money to be made with little effort and investment required. The concept is simple - if you have an audience who would like your product or service, then promote them through links so that they can buy directly from you instead of going through a middleman (i.e., you). This allows you to make more profit while providing value to your customers.
There are many ways to go about promoting products or services, but what is the best way to learn affiliate marketing? How do I start affiliate marketing myself? How long will it take me to earn my first dollar? What are the best niches in 2022? All these questions need answers before we begin learning about affiliate marketing.
So let’s get started by looking at five of the best e-books available on Amazon Kindle Store related to affiliate marketing and how they could benefit you! We hope this list serves as a great starting point for anyone interested in becoming part of the affiliate marketing industry.
The best place to start out on your journey towards success is by reading up on some of the basics of affiliate marketing. You don't want to jump right into promotion without having a basic understanding of why affiliates exist and how their role works.
We've put together a list of 4 essential eBooks that every beginner must know about. They cover everything ranging from setting up shop, choosing a profitable niche, getting traffic, etc. Make sure you download all four of them before diving headfirst into promoting any kind of product.
1. ClickBank University - Mastering Digital Marketing & SEO For Affiliates
If you're new to the field, then you might not yet understand the importance of search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing. In fact, both of those terms are often used interchangeably, making things even harder. Don't worry though, this eBook teaches you exactly what each term means and how to use them effectively.
2. The Ultimate Guide To Making Money With Google AdSense
Google AdSense is arguably the most powerful tool in the world of affiliate marketing because it gives you access to millions of potential users across the globe. If you master this guide, you'll become much more efficient at finding high-quality sites that will bring you passive revenue over time. It also helps you avoid wasting time trying to optimize content for small audiences.
3. Get Paid Fast Through Paypal Affiliate Program
When you join the PayPal affiliate program, you can make $10-$100 per sale just by sending people to the website where they purchase something from you. It takes only a few minutes to set up an account and claim your commission. But what makes this system different than others is the ability to track sales and get paid instantly via PayPal. And once you build a reputation, you can receive payments from other merchants too.
4. The Complete Affiliate Marketing Course
This is probably the most comprehensive course ever offered around affiliate marketing. Whether you're already familiar with the topic or you're completely new, this 7-hour course covers everything you need to know to succeed in this business.
It starts off by explaining why affiliate programs are necessary, followed by a brief overview of the history of affiliate marketing. Then comes the definition of affiliate marketers and why they work so well. Next comes the theory behind affiliate marketing, which includes building trust, creating authority, gaining subscribers, attracting visitors, and driving conversions. Finally, you'll find step-by-step instructions on how to create effective link campaigns, landing pages, ads, videos, email lists, social media posts, and more.
Now that you know why affiliate marketing exists and how it functions, you may wonder "how does someone actually get started?" Once again, there isn't a single answer to that question. There are hundreds of methods you can choose from depending on your own preferences. Some prefer to simply write articles and post them on forums, while others prefer to run PPC advertising campaigns. Whatever method you decide upon, remember that whatever you do needs to be done consistently.
Once you establish yourself as a reputable brand within your chosen market, you'll eventually attract more clients and increase your earning power.
You won't see results immediately after joining the affiliate network. However, the longer you wait, the better your chances of success. So always plan to invest a good amount of time initially until you gain enough experience to generate consistent profits. Remember that patience is key here since you aren't competing against big companies with deep pockets. Your goal should be to grow slowly over time.
In order to maximize your earnings, you need to focus on markets that offer lots of opportunities. These include products or services that are trending or hot topics in general. Popular niches include health supplements, weight loss solutions, beauty regimens, fitness equipment, video games, tech gadgets, travel destinations, fashion accessories, etc.
But even if you decide to dive into a particular niche, it doesn't mean you should limit yourself to one specific type of product. Instead, think outside the box and look for untapped demand in areas such as coaching, consulting, software development, writing, etc.
These 5 eBooks alone will give you a solid foundation for mastering affiliate marketing, but you'll still need to spend hours researching various strategies to discover the ones that suit your unique situation. Deuel teaches readers how to set up their very own profitable websites using nothing more than WordPress and Google AdSense. He also goes into detail explaining why it makes sense to go with the latter option rather than placing ads manually onto pages. You won't find many other affiliate marketers teaching this method yet, which means that you'll be able to stand apart from the crowd when people see your website.
